Praised for his "brilliant and compelling" programming (Strad), Sam Suggs blends sonorous transcriptions of Bach and Daft Punk with original compositions for double bass to create a kaleidoscopic musical evening. He will be joined by pianist Susan Merdinger in his colorful duo "Apple Tree" (2019), a resurrection of Haydn's lost double bass concerto developed from two surviving bars, and more. Redefining the potential of his instrument, Sam's creativity and "mind-boggling" playing (Oregon Arts Watch) led him to become the first solo bassist to win the Concert Artists Guild competition in a generation.
